In Punjab, Independence Day celebrations were marked at the border: A message of peace was conveyed at 12 midnight through a candle march, appealing for unity between both nations. At the India-Pakistan border on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day, a peace message was conveyed at the Attari-Wagah border at 12 midnight. The Aman-Dosti Yatra (Peace and Friendship Journey) was held during the early hours of Monday-Tuesday, with participants from across India gathering to send a message of unity for a brighter future for both countries. During this event, a candle march was also organized, and tributes were paid to the 1 million people who lost their lives. The march highlighted the spirit of Hindu-Muslim brotherhood, and the Golden Gate at the Attari border was illuminated in the colors of the national flag. Initiated by the Hind-Pak Dosti Manch, Folklore Research Academy, SAFMA, Hind-Pak Peoples Forum for Peace, and Democracy, and Sarbat Da Bhala Trust, this peace march has been held for the past 28 years. Remembering the 1 million lives lost: On this occasion of independence, people who reached out to send messages of love to both nations mentioned that Punjab and Bengal suffered the most during the partition, with 1 million lives lost. It's important to remember these martyrs and pray for their eternal peace. Appeal for unity between both nations' governments: Niyamad Toheed, who traveled from Noida to the Attari border, urged both nations' governments to come together for a shared future. She expressed her happiness at being part of this Indo-Pak friendship initiative. Mandeep Kaur, from Ludhiana, shared her first experience being a part of this event at the Attari border. She was delighted to see people from all over the country coming together to pray for peace in both nations.
